The One For a Thankful Mess

20141029_122045

I look around my home—at the chaos left by my 10 month old’s voracious appetite for play, at the pile of forgotten and never-folded laundry, at the disorganized array of papers in my living room-- and I bear the widest grin. A clear evidence, that despite the disorder that currently envelopes me, I am still thankful.

Thankful that life granted me a comfortable, albeit disheveled chaos of a home; to warrant me clean clothing that will keep my family warm, to witness my beautiful girl grow at an alarming rate, but grow so well otherwise.

So my home may look like a ransacked dungeon at times, but don’t be fooled. Because it’s in these messes that we build our life, and it’s in these things that I am thankful.

  1. What a true post, when you're trying to balance work and family there's just enough time to get the washing on. It's great every once in a while to remember and be thankful for what we have. Popping in from What's The Story.

  2. I've learn with the mess I either accept it, or go crazy trying to tidy faster than 2 kids and a baby. .... accepting it, it is! #magicmoments.

  3. I love this. I am continually growing to love your sweet, simple posts that nevertheless, showcase the realness of motherhood. You are absolutely right, though. The mess can be beautiful. It shows the passion, energy, and zeal for life that our little ones have, and it is inspiring. :) Beautiful post!

  4. I agree! My 11 month old can empty his toy box as much as he likes as he's learning new things every day and enjoying play xx. #magicmoments

  6. Always nice to see what their treasured possessions are. You're right not to worry too much about the mess, play and fun are much more important.

  7. Just as I am reading this I am looking at my son play in the messy living room. Agree with what you said. I am also thankful that tho my house is messy we have the opportunity to bond on plays. #MagicMoments

  11. Thanks, Marla! Mothering is such a new thing for me, and documenting its progress is therapeutic in a way. How you describe messes is exactly why I wrote this post. I used to panic at the sight of it, but now I just embrace it. The house is lived in and that's more important. Hope your Monday is going well!
